The Board for IT Education Standards is a non-profit Society set up by the Karnataka Government, in association with IT industries and educational institutions, in order to enhance the quality of IT education and help build quality manpower for the IT industry.

Mission

To serve as a catalyst for nurturing Excellence in our IT educational institutions, ensuring employability of our Graduates, promoting Quality of work of our Faculty, strenghtening interactions and networking among Stakeholders, and enhancing global competitiveness of our IT industry.

Objectives

Reflecting its leadership and commitment towards enhancement of IT education, BITES has the following objectives:

Promote excellence and enhance quality of education being delivered at engineering colleges offering IT courses.
Networking of stakeholders like Engineering College, students, faculty and IT industries to create an effective IT ecosystem
To keep pace with global trends in IT education and make Karnataka a preferred IT destination in the country.
To encourage the creation of special interest groups to work on specific topics of interest and participate in various activities like Curriculum development, Creation of Online Courseware etc.
Encourage student and teacher participation and support for BITES
Market BITES membership and make itself sustaining

The focus of BITES is to create an effective IT eco-system by networking industries, institutions, government, faculty and students on a voluntary and self-supporting basis.

BITES would like to facilitate interaction between key stakeholders and act as a forum for exchanging ideas and giving feedback about IT education issues.

BITES would like to provide educational support services including improved and enhanced curriculum and training of teachers and students.

BITES would like to serve as an advisory body to the government and educational institution on any issue with respect to quality manpower requirements of the IT industry.

BITES has a distinguished Governing Board consisting of the CEOs of the leading IT companies of India; the Principal Secretary, Higher Education; the Principal Secretary, IT, BT and S&T; and the Director of Technical Education of Karnataka; the Vice- Chancellor of VTU; and Principals of reputed Technical Institutions in the state.

Our Members include distinguished Corporate and Technical Institutions. With the active involvement of our distinguished Members of the Board, and goodwill and cooperation of our Stakeholders, we are striving to achieve our Vision and Mission, and let us all collaborate to keep Karnataka at the forefront of IT.
